The War Room
Welcome to Belco's "War Room!" This conference room is where anything to do with manufacturing is hashed out among our team of manufacturing professionals. Our elite production gurus spend hours pouring over data relating to anything from moisture content post-kiln, to fiber quality comparisons or overall mill production efficiency.

Belco's Re-man Facility
Located in Shelton, Washington on 15 paved acres, our mill houses two re-man facilities. The first facility is shown in the background of the picture to the left and it's built on an 18,000 sq/ft paddock in which we house one of our two Stetson-Ross planers, one 60" line bar re-saw with merry-go-round, two of four green chains and our proprietary rip-saw. This facility alone is capable of processing over 3 million board feet per month.

Kiln Drying
In order to maintain the utmost in quality control, we oversee every process throughout the entire manufacturing lifecycle. From the mill to our distribution facility, cutting edge technology and skilled craftsmanship combine to deliver the highest quality products possible. Armor Coat Trim & Fascia and Shelton Specialties Premium Pattern Stock are perfect examples of Belco's manufacturing capabilities.

One of the key elements behind the stability of these great products is their moisture content. In order to precisely control this process we decided to bring the kiln drying process in house.

To the left you can see our two dry kilns in action. Each is computer driven and calibrated to perfection by our highly trained production staff ensuring there is little to no variance in the moisture content of our finished products. Some might say this addition is overkill, we believe it is one small cog in our relentless pursuit of quality.

Feeding The Monster
Introducing the Feeder. This enormous machine makes trimming and planing a breeze with its' capability to load full units onto an articulating platform. This platform then slowly tilts the unit until it tumbles onto the sled, easily allowing our staff to safely place and space each individual board on the green chain prior to reaching the planer.

Plane & Simple
Featured in this segment is our state-of-the-art Stetson-Ross planer. Once a unit of lumber has been "fed" to the green chain, this fine piece of machinery takes each board and gives it the surface stipulated for that particular run. These surface patterns vary from smooth patterns, as seen in our Shelton Specialties Premium Pattern Stock, to our rich proprietary Armor Coat Trim & Fascia comb.

Passing The Grade
Belco has our own in house PLB certified grader and chief planer. Each board used in Belco's Specialty line is hand sorted and visually graded ensuring our materials stand up to our stringent qualitative standards.

After passing through expert hands, every board is fed to our Irvington-Moore 26' Motorized Arbor Drop Trimmer. This computer operated behemoth of a machine precision cuts each piece to perfection, reducing waste and overall costs by maintaining consistency in unit size for each run.

Re-Saw
At Belco we pride ourselves on many things from the perfection of our processes to the quality of our finished products, but one thing we are extremely proud of is our extensive knowledge in fiber procurement and maximization. Pictured to the left is a key component in that process, our proprietary re-saw.

This incredible piece of machinery enables us to utilize the best part of each board by removing defects that otherwise might prove insurmountable. Incorporating this element into the process dramatically reduces waste, which in turn reduces costs and lessens any negative impact our production might have on the environment.
