Made in America!
In an article published by Larry Kush of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), he states that, "From the 15,000 board feet of American lumber that goes into a typical new American home, down to the caulking, almost everything that goes to build a new home can be made in the United States.  Most of our windows are made in the upper mid west...washers and dryers from the new Whirlpool plant in Tennessee, carpet from Georgia."  According to the ABC "Made in America" report, a builder in Bozeman, MT is hard at work building a house made entirely from materials made in the good ol' U S of A.  He acknowledges that some American made products are more expensive than foreign counterparts but in the end, the entire home is only 1-2% above the cost of a foreign-sourced home (full story).

In tough times, we focus on costs and all get a little nervous about the price of American made products.  However, it may come as a surprise that it doesn't take a whole lot to make a difference.  Also part of ABC News' ongoing "Made in America" report, "Economists say that if every one of us spent an extra $3.33 on U.S.-made goods every year, it would create nearly 10,000 new jobs in this country."  In the building industry alone, Kush reports that, "Every single family home built in America directly creates 3.1 jobs for one year."

So what role does Belco Forest Products play in all of this?  First and foremost, our Armor Coat Trim & Fascia is proudly made in Shelton, WA, USA, meaning every piece of trim that leaves our yard is 100% American made, not only keeping money in the country but jobs too!  We currently employ 50 full time staff members and are continuing to grow.  Our products are primarily distributed to in the Pacific Northwest but we are going National, recently moving Armor Coat into California, Texas, Colorado and Florida.  Although we still have a long way to go before the building industry is near its peak again, as Kush says, "despite the slings and arrows of those who demean us, America continues to be an exceptional nation where, if you look closely, you'll see 'Made in USA' proudly stamped on every home in every community across the country."  Belco is proud to manufacture a product that helps make that stamp a little more visible.
